Day 4

After 2 nights at Crater Lake we camped in Redway CA and spent a couple hours with my sister Kathy in Garberville before hitting the road. We had breakfast at the Eel River Cafe which is just down the street from Kathy's bookstore then did a little shopping at a boutique where Meg found a dress to wear to Elizabeth's bat mitzvah. Today is Sarah's birthday so Tom picked out a special gift for her too. Oh, and I got some incense. Tonight we should be at a campground with WiFi so hopefully I'll be able to add photos.

8/4 update: couldn't add a picture until now- wifi connections have been spotty at best.     

I can never sleep the night before a trip. It occurs to me that perhaps I misnamed this blog- "grand adventure" sounds like a trip to Europe...but we are going camping. In a trailer, which I suppose is a step above a tent. And we will go to the Grand Canyon. I guess the title will stay. Tonight we saw Thoroughly Modern Millie - Sarah played a variety of parts but was mainly one of Millie's girlfriends in the boarding house. Such fun! She just sparkles on stage. All of the kids are so talented. I'm so glad we delayed our "grand adventure" in order to make it to opening night!

Getting Ready...

Our big adventure begins tomorrow...today is prep day.  Tom is out getting the oil changed in the van and I am double checking the trailer for essentials.  Tonight is the opening of Thoroughly Modern Millie which Sarah is in....lots going on!
